From our SEPTEMBER SIDEWALK STUDIES series: TIME
LATE-CAPITALIST TIME
Critic Marc Augé argues that we spend the majority of our time in "non-places" like supermarkets, airports, and hotels. These non-places are characterized by an excess of space and information, and by an absence of place-based history and generative sociality. We'll move through a "non-place" par excellence — Midtown Manhattan — and see what it takes to carve out the conditions for a shared human world.
